About Us

Sri Lankan Americans for Social Justice is an intergenerational group of people of Sri Lankan descent in the U.S.

We explore how institutionalized racism, privilege, sexism, and other forms of inequity work in the U.S. and Sri Lanka.

  • Advocating for a more equitable society means educating ourselves about harmful ideas and practices that are embedded in our cultures and societies.

  • Acting and speaking from a place of awareness is how real transformative change is made.

We are committed to decolonizing and dismantling oppressive systems on individual, interpersonal, and institutional levels.

  • Changing behavior, mentality, and knowing when to speak up, but also knowing when to listen and learn is how we move towards social justice.

We are compassionate towards ourselves and others.

  • We support each other by being honest and open, asking questions, and striving to understand one another.
